Profile: Ari Tapiero

This ongoing project sprang from a desire to document the changing character of the Mile-End neighbourhood in Montreal, Canada.

Once a working-class Jewish quarter, it has gone from a quiet tree-lined residential area to being proclaimed one of the "ten coolest neighbourhoods in North America" by Wallpaper magazine in a relatively short space of time.

These portraits are my attempt to show the transformation of a once-typical neighbourhood.

Work will continue in the spring and summer of 2009.
